San Jose: the Heart of Silicon Valley

Not only is San Jose the largest city in Northern California, but it’s also at heart, the only city that can be referred to as the heart of Silicon Valley. This energetic center of innovation, culture, and history boasts beautiful weather, a diverse population, and stunning natural landscapes just outside the city. San Jose offers visitors a unique blend of urban adventures and outdoor escapades. San Jose is California’s third-most populous city. Curiously, the town is also named as the “Capital of Silicon Valley.” San Jose houses many technological companies and start-ups, and its arts are blossoming with a population that exceeds one million; the city gives the impression of an incredibly culturally thriving entity, drawing from a very diverse community, including big populations of Hispanics and Asians.

History

Founded in 1777, San Jose began as a farming community, also being the first civil settlement in California. In the period of the Gold Rush, the city had an important part, and in the early 1850s it was also the state capital. The city changed during the late 20th century; the growth of technology companies across the region led to swift economic development and population increase. Today, San Jose is no longer identified just as a city of IT; it has the recognition of several historic sites and cultural landmarks.

Geographic Landscape

San Jose is found within the Santa Clara Valley with the panoramic Diablo Range to the east and the Santa Cruz Mountains to the west. The climate in this city is Mediterranean, with hot dry summers and cool moist winters. Such a favorable weather condition makes the perfect place for all outdoor activities round the year. Abundant facilities for hiking, biking, or such outdoor joy are also available around the coastline and natural parks.

Ideal Tourist Season

Spring, during March to May, and the period from September to November are the best seasons to visit. These seasons witness blooming flowers and pleasant temperatures. The days can be very useful for visiting all the parks and attractions in the city as festivals happen in these seasons. However, falling leaves create a perfect weather condition and beautiful foliage, which makes autumn an ideal season. In summer, it could be too hot because the temperature is at 90s°F many days. Winter is pretty mild and sometimes may even see rain, so it is less crowded, but it is still enjoyable.
