Philadelphia: The City of Brotherly Love

One of the historic cities in the United States, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, holds many important and rich cultural heritage. As the birthplace of American democracy, it showcases some of the most famous places, among them Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. Walk through historic district, visit the Philadelphia Museum of Art, or get a cheesesteak at a local eatery. Discover the vibrant arts scene, with theatres, museums, and music venues. Philadelphia is the “City of Brotherly Love”-otherwise a proud city steeped in history and culture. Among America’s oldest cities, Philadelphia offers an attractive mix of historical landmarks, cultural neighbourhoods, and a vibrant dining scene that will make you want to come and experience firsthand why it’s a must-do destination.

About Philadelphia

With its population being more than 1.5 million people, Philadelphia is the largest city in Pennsylvania and the sixth-most populated city in the United States. The great historical heritage and cultural institutions make Philadelphia a great place though with a mixture of a different population makes the city much vibrant. The city is home to educational, healthcare, and technological institutions and thus remains a hub of innovation and opportunity.

History

Philadelphia was a city founded by William Penn back in 1682, which was designed as a sacred city with religious tolerance and freedom. The city of Philadelphia was considered a crucial site for the American Revolution since it housed the Continental Congress and was the place where the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution was debated and decided upon. Philadelphia served as the capital of the United States for a period of ten years from 1790 to 1800, which further established the city as a historical landmark in itself.

Geographical Landscape

Philadelphia is a city that acts as a northeastern front in the United States of America and is situated at the edges of the Schuylkill and Delaware Rivers. Here, a lot of parks and open areas are created as escapes from the city’s usual noises. Philadelphia has summer and winter, so you’d also experience two typical seasons depending on whether you visit here during summer time or winter.

Best Time to Visit

The best times to visit Philadelphia are in the spring, from March to May, and the fall, from September to November. During these seasons, the beautiful blooms and not too hot weather make it very suitable to explore the city outdoor attractions. Fall produces wonderful foliage and pleasant weather with different festivals and events all over the place. Summer can be very hot and humid and is a well-known chilly winter season, though during the holiday season is very beautifully decorated and full of events.
