This picturesque valley is the marvel of Himachal Pradesh. Considered to be one of the coldest places in our country Spiti Valley is a remote hill station. Perched at a height of 12,500 feet, the quaint town is surrounded by Tibet in the east, Ladakh in the north, Kinnaur in the south-east and Lahaul and Kullu in the south. This remote land is exceptionally beautiful with its old monasteries, fluttering prayer flags, serpentine rivers, pristine mountains and glittering glaciers.

Best time to visit Spiti Valley

Summers are your good to go time to explore the mysteries of this remote land. It is the best time to plan your vacation and explore the place during the months of March to June when the temperature sores from 0 degree Celsius to 15 degree Celsius.

Winters in Spiti Valley are the real test of survival. Most of the roads get blocked by snow during this time but winter in the valley comes up with a range of magical moments and adrenaline spiking adventures. The temperature drops below freezing point and mighty predators like snow leopards come out to rule the valley.

Monsoon in the valley can be accident prone given the probability of natural calamities like heavy rainfall and dangerous landslides.

How to reach Spiti Valley?

The remote land is a challenge in itself.

  • By air – No direct flight is available to reach Spiti Valley. The nearest airport is 245 km away named Bhuntar Airport in Kullu. The next nearest airport which versatile operation and reach are Chandigarh Airport, located 522 km away from Spiti Valley.
  • By rail – Jogindernagar Railway Station is the nearest railhead but it has limited connectivity.
  • BY road – This is the most convenient way to reach Spiti Valley. Buses ply from nearby cities and towns on daily basis. One can also avail shared taxis or buses to reach here.

Activities to do and places to visit in Spiti Valley

The paradisiacal valley is the abode of adventure and thrill. With its numerous magical rivers and challenging trekking trails, it is a favourite amongst adventure seekers. Pin Valley Park Trek is the paradise for admirers of nature. The beautiful park is spread across an area of 675 sq. km and is perched at an altitude ranging from 11,500 feet to 20,000 feet. The trek gives you chance to witness the enthralling flora and fauna of the park. You can also enjoy mountain biking in this trans-Himalayan region. Also, don’t forget to relish the adventure of Yak ad horse safari. They are just too much fun.
