Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive at Sonamarg
Drive from Srinagar to Sonamarg (2–3 hrs). Acclimatize and rest along the Sindh River.
Day 2: Trek from Sonamarg to Nichnai
Climb through maple and pine trees, and then a steep climb to a broad green valley. Camp at Nichnai.
Day 3: Nichnai to Vishansar Lake via Nichnai Pass
Cross the first high-altitude pass (4,100 m) and enter deeply into verdant meadows. Camp near the crystal-clear Vishansar Lake.
Day 4: Trek to Gadsar through Krishansar Lake and Gadsar Pass
Stop by Krishansar Lake, then climb to the spectacular Gadsar Pass (highest point of the trek). Camp near the glacial Gadsar Lake.
Day 5: Gadsar to Satsar Lakes
A path along undulating ridges and boulder fields leads to Satsar, a cluster of connected lakes.
Day 6: Satsar to Gangbal and Nundkol Lakes through Zaj Pass
A tough but highly rewarding day. Cross Zaj Pass (4,100+ m) to arrive at Naranag’s magnificent Gangbal and Nundkol Lakes, which are in the shadow of Mount Harmukh.
Day 7: Gangbal to Naranag and Drive to Srinagar
A gradual decline via pine woods brings one to the Naranag temple complex. Return to Srinagar by drive.
Difficulty Level and Preparation
