The tiger reserve was closed briefly due to monsoon, they said.

STR Deputy Director Samrat Gouda said that 151 tourists in 36 vehicles visited the tiger reserve in the first day.

The tiger reserve was closed for tourists from June 12 due to monsoon. For the first time, wildlife safari facilities were provided by STR authorities for the tourists.

Interested tourists would have to pre-book the safari vehicles through the Odisha eco tourism web portal in advance, he said.

The wildlife safari vehicles would provide service for five hours in the morning from 5.30 am and four hours in the afternoon from 3 pm, Gouda said.

It is open for visitors on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from the Kaliani entry point at Jashipur between 6 am and 12 noon and also from the Pithabata entry point in the Baripada division between 11 am and 1 pm. Every tourist vehicle has to accompany one guide while entering the tiger reserve.
