Binsar: the land of the leopard

Historically, it was the summer capital of the kings of the Chand dynasty. It has now transformed into a 45sqkm sanctuary protecting a number of flora and faunas. The Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary is the proud home to more than 200 distinctive species of birds, leopards and other animals.

Situated at an elevation of 900m and stretching upto 3000m, Binsarfalls in the Kumaon region and is located 35kms away from Almora. A particular spot here called the ‘Zero point’ will give you the pleasure of viewing Nanda Devi, Trishul, Kedarnath and Shivling peaks. They will appear to be so close, that you could just take a leap and land on top of them.
