Jodhpur, Rajasthan –

The blue city of Rajasthan is the second largest city of after Jaipur. This beautiful city has lot to offer to tourists. Some of the few places to visit are Kaylana Lake, Ghanta Ghar, Mehrangarh Fort, Jaswant Thada and Umaid Bhawan Palace. The place is brooding hot in summers and utterly cold in winters. The best time for desert safari in Jodhpur is from December to February.

Route – The region is assessable by both train and airways. The nearest airport is Jodhpur airport.

Nubra Valley, Leh Ladak –

The place is 1000 feet above sea level. The towering and barren mountains Leh Ladak desert and plateau have an enchanting effect on the travellers. The climate is dry and cool here and the summers are pleasantly beautiful while the winters are harsh as the temperature drops below freezing point bringing extreme hardship to the people of the valley. The monasteries of Diskit and Ensa are beloved tourist destination during desert safari.

Route – The difficult terrain of Leh Ladak is only assessable by land route through famous Khardung La Mountain Pass.

Jaiselmer, Rajasthan –

The desert of Jaiselmer offers an enduring desert safari experience. The city is nicknamed as Golden city due to the colour of glittering sand. Desert safari in this part of Thar Desert various activities like camel safari, jeep safari, musical evening and Rajasthani mujra. The place has interesting tourist spots to explore including Junagarh Fort, Lalgarh Palace, Laxmi Niwas Palace, Karni Mata Temple, and Ganga Singh Museum. The best time to visit is between December to February.

Route – Bikaner has well laid railway network and one can reach Bikaner railway station from any part of the country.

Desert safari is a challenging sport.

  • Desert safari is little bumpy so avoid drinking too much water and have light food.
  • Carry and wear your sunglasses, hat and sunscreen.
  • Wear light and loose clothes and also make sure that you carry a light jacket along with you as the temperature at night drops rapidly in desert.
  • Wear flip-flop or open toed shoes to remove sand that gets into your footwear.
  • Carry your camera to click the amazing sights that the desert safari might offer.
  • There are variety of Flora and Fauna living in the deserts adding charm to the desert safari.
  • Follow the instructions of your guide very carefully and make sure you take the maximum from the moment.
  • The night sky in deserts is pristine and it refreshes you with the amazing view of constellations.
