About Chenab Bridge

Location: Reasi district, Jammu and Kashmir, India

Height: 359 meters above riverbed (higher than the Eiffel Tower)

Length: 1,315 meters

Significance: World’s highest railway bridge, part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link project

Constructed over the deep Chenab River gorge, the steel arch bridge is a marvel of human engineering and an eye feast, particularly against a misty backdrop of rolling hills and flowing waters.

1. Bhaderwah – The Mini Kashmir

Nicknamed “Mini Kashmir,” Bhaderwah is a secret treasure with rolling meadows, dense forests, and peaceful landscapes. Ideal for trekking, camping, and basking in unspoiled nature.

Distance from Chenab Bridge: ~70 km

Must Visit: Jai Valley, Padri Meadows, Chinta Valley

2. Patnitop – A Scenic Hill Retreat

Along the Shivalik belt is located Patnitop, which provides sweeping views, pine forests, and a serene getaway from urban life. Adventure activities such as paragliding and ropeways are prime attractions.

Must Visit: Nathatop, Sanasar Lake, Patnitop Park

3. Reasi Town – Culture & Spirituality

The most suitable time for a visit to Chenab Bridge and the regions nearby is March to October, when the climate is nice and warm, the skies are blue, and the green lush fields are in their best condition. Snow falls during winters in higher altitudes, giving a touch of magic – but some travel routes might be inaccessible.

How to Reach Chenab Bridge

By Air: Nearest airport is Jammu Airport (approx. 110 km)

By Train: Arrive at Jammu or Katra Railway Station; local transport to Reasi

By Road: Well-connected roads from Jammu, Srinagar, and Udhampur

Note: Chenab Bridge is a restricted railway zone, so inquire with local authorities or Indian Railways for view-point entry or guided tours.
