Himachal Pradesh is hosting the Paragliding World Cup 2024 (PWCIndia'24) and the first-ever Himachal Paragliding Fest (HPF'24) from 2nd to 9th November. It would be the second world cup in this breathtaking destination after it first appeared in 2015.
It is managed by the state government and Himachal Tourism along with the Billing Paragliding Association. The original curator of the Himachal Paragliding Fest is "Being Creative," which enhances the culture and adventurous atmosphere of that region.
Nearly 130 pilots will fly over the weekend from more than 50 countries because Bir Billing is one of the world's best paragliding places owing to fantastic thermals and scintillating scenery. It will be a challenging environment and promises an exciting experience to participants as well as viewers.
In addition to other Adventure Sports Championships of Motocross, River Rafting, Marathon, Cyclathon, and 4x4 TSD Rally; it will be something to really look forward to as these competitions will complement the Paragliding World Cup.
By Air: Gaggal Airport in Kangra, 68 kilometers away from Bir Billing is also the place from which sky warriors can take off to start flying. One can even take direct flights from Delhi to Gaggal from where a cab or a bus ride will finally leave you at your destination.
By Train: For train enthusiasts, the nearest railway station is Pathankot, which is about 90 km from Bir Billing. From Delhi to Pathankot, one can take a train and then get a taxi or bus to Bir Billing.
By Road: In case, you love scenic drives; then you may take NH 44 highway from Delhi to Kangra. The same covers approximately 520km and takes almost 12 to 14 hours in case you like driving for so long a stretch or not. Even, one can reach the destination as regular buses available from Delhi directly to Dharamshala and can catch a taxi for Bir Billing.
Billing Paragliding Association president Anurag Sharma welcomed participants from all over the world with much excitement. "This event also carries an element of promoting the breathtaking natural beauty and adventures around the region, firmly establishing Bir Billing as the adrenaline tourism hub," he said.
