Winters in Lahaul Valley is quite harsh, therefore, summer months are the best to visit this barren land hiding northwards of Pir Pranjal Range. The summer months between May to October are amazingly pleasant and ideal for sight-seeing and adventure activities.

As the Rohtang Pass gets closed due to heavy snowfall during winters, the area becomes isolated. The winter months from November to April offer extreme hardship as the temperature goes below freezing point.

How to reach Lahaul Valley?

  • By air – The Bhuntar Airport in Kullu is the nearest airport to Lahaul Valley. Tourists can easily avail Taxi/cab or state-run bus services to reach here.
  • By rail – Ahuj Railway Station is the nearest railway station but it offers limited accessibility. Another nearby railhead is the Jogindernagar Railway Station.
  • By road – The Lahaul Valley is accessible by two sides – one from the Kullu-Manali side and the other from Shimla. If you are travelling from the side of Manali then you have to pass the Rohtang Pass, which is covered in snow for half of the year during winter months.
